Isle of Bute Photographic Breaks
The location for this 3-day weekend photographic break is the Beautiful Isle of Bute which is often described as "The Jewel in the Clyde", with stunning views and a plethora of wildlife. The Isle of Bute is Scotland's most accessible island (less than 2 hours from Glasgow), with regular ferries from both Wemyss Bay and Colintraive.
In order to give participating photographers the best of individual attention, the events are limited to 6 participating photographers, and photographic guidance will be provided by professional photographers Philip Kirkham and Richard Christie, both of whom are based on Bute. Philip's photographic expertise is primarily wildlife photography, and his work has been published in various books, magazines and newspapers, including the recently published "Birds of Argyll", The Daily Telegraph, The Times and many others. His landscape photographs also feature on mats and coasters produced by "Picture Bute", of which over 20,000 have been sold all over the world. Richard's expertise is with portraits and reportage. He is also capturing some stunning landscape images from around Bute which he converts to black and white for wonderful effects. His work has appeared in various newspapers, and he has also worked for channel 4TV, fashion TV, and more recently as a self employed wedding photographer.
The programme will include visits to the most photogenic locations on the island, renowned for landscape, panorama, flora and fauna. Transport around the island will be provided by Picture Bute.
One of the days will be enjoyed in the grounds of Mount Stuart, the ancestral home of the Marquess of Bute. The house itself is described as one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the country.
